Application Preamble: You are completing this application for admission to practice law in Washington or for enrollment in the APR 6 law clerk program. The Washington Supreme Court (Court) regulates the practice of law in Washington, including establishing the qualifications for admission and issuing licenses to persons to the practice of law. General Rule (GR) 12; Admission and Practice Rule (APR) 1(a). As authorized and supervised by the Court, the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) administers the admission of licensed legal professionals in Washington in a "manner that protects the public and respects the rights of the applicant." GR 12.2(a)(7).

The application questions focus on your record of conduct and provide you an opportunity to explain any conduct disclosed in your application materials including how you addressed the behavior or what you learned from the experience. Your responses to the application questions will be reviewed to determine if your record of conduct establishes that you are of "good moral character" and possess "the requisite fitness to practice law" as defined in APR 20.

After submitting your application, the WSBA will review your application and take steps to verify the information provided in the application, including contacting third parties identified in your application (e.g., employers). The WSBA may request additional information, clarification, or documentation from you. Applications that reflect one or more of the factors listed in APR 21(a) are referred to WSBA Regulatory Counsel for further review. The WSBA works to ensure that the application information provided is accurate and complete.

Please read the application questions carefully, respond as completely and accurately as possible, and provide documentation of pending matters or final disposition of closed matters in order to facilitate the review of your application.
